Murfreesboro’s newest Mexican restaurant is set to open Thursday owner Alfonso Perez said.

Acapulco Burrito will be at 1312 N.W. Broad St., formerly Bobo Chinese restaurant. This will be the third location for the small family of restaurants.

"It’s authentic Mexican food," said Perez, who owns Acapulco Burrito locations in Donelson and Antioch.

You’ll find typical Tex-Mex dishes like quesadillas, tacos and burritos.

"We do a lot of soups, called caldo," Perez explained. "We are known for those dishes."

There are other specialty items such as menudo, pupusas, tortas and mole.

"We are going to have a lot of seafood, too," Perez said.

Perez started Acapulco Burrito 15 years ago as a food truck business. A brick-and-mortar location at 13020 Old Hickory Blvd. in Antioch, just over the Rutherford County border, served as a commissary.

"But we noticed people were wanting to get food from us, so we opened up the restaurant," he said. "From there, we’ve been branching out. … There will be more."

Perez imported handmade, hand-painted seating for the 97-person capacity restaurant.

He also gutted the aging restaurant and put in all new flooring and a totally renovated kitchen.

"Everything is brand new," he said.

There will be a full bar once the restaurant is given a license.

Hours will be determined, but Perez plans to open Wednesday at 10 a.m.
